NOUVEL ALBUM : MALBAR EXPERIENCE. RAVI PRASAD
Mélange d’influences carnatiques, maloya et électroniques du 21e siècle, Malbar Experience est un concept créé par Ravi Prasad qui construit des ponts entre les genres musicaux depuis des décennies, en collaboration avec Oskar Vizan, le producteur de l’album.
Il se rend à La Réunion pour rencontrer les musiciens «Malbars» – les descendants des engagés au XIXe siècle pour travailler dans les plantations de l’île. La fusion de ces différents éléments, la musique traditionnelle indienne, le Malbar et l’électronique, rend ce projet unique.

Q: Malbar Experience, how did the conception of the project come about? Can you tell us a bit about the cultural connection that exists between Reunion Island and the Indian region of Malbar?
A: The northern region of Kerala, a state from south west of India, is also called Malabar Area. It’s there where I was born. When I heard about the Indian community from Réunion island, known as Malbar, I tried to search for the connection. This is how the project started.
